March 2004 LHL: Omega-3 Seal oil - good for the heart

From the Norwegian Industry Association for Heart- and Lung (LHL) membership “Det Nytter” – March, 2004

In the lard of the Greenland seal there is a high concentration of omega-3 acids. Eskimos’ recipe for a healthy heart, good immune defence system, good circulation, soft joints and beautiful skin is seal oil. According to Ministry of Fisheries ( now Norwegian Food Safety Authority), it has been documented that the molecules in the seal oil is structured different than fish oil, and that humans benefit more from seal oil than fish oil during digestion. This is because the seal oil is a mammal.

At the University in Århus, Denmark, they have concluded that seal oil has a positive effect for the triglycerides in the blood, and that reduces the risks for heart diseases.
