Effects of Omega-3 fatty acids have been studied since Bang and Dyrberg preformed interesting studies on Greenland in the 70’s. The studies showed that there were less heart diseases, strokes, and that diabetes among the Eskimos that consumed a high amount of Omega-3 fatty acids from fish and sea plants compared to Danish people. Eskimos diet contains little saturated fats, but it contains a high consumption of total fatconsumption. The diet of Greenland Eskimos is on average 14 gram Omega-3 fatty acids pr 3000 kcal, witch is 5-10 gram Omega-3 per day. This results from the consumption of 0,4 kg. seal and whale meat per day. 1
